Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell works as a reporter for NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has an undergraduate degree in English from the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell was hired by KYW Radio and TV as an Philadelphia reporter in the year 1967. 1996, she joined WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). In the following two years, she joined NBC News as a Washington reporter. Beginning in 1981, she began reporting on the White House. In 1988 she became the head of the congressional reporters. Mitchell was appointed the chief White House correspondent in 1992 as well as chief foreign correspondent for NBC News in 1994. Mitchell was an anchor and a panelist on the TV news show Meet the Press. She was part of the panel at 1988 Presidential Debates between George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received in 2005 her Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism for The John F. Kennedy School of Government. In 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA), honored Mitchell for her contribution in the defense of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell first covered in the White House for NBC News from 1981-1988 during both of the terms of President Ronald Reagan. Mitchell covered a variety of notable news reports, including arm control, budget taxes as well as the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also went to various summits while in the company of President Reagan together with Mikhail Gorbachev.
